The Mari Chair $248.00 - $-248.00 In this 4-week woodworking class, students will build the Sedia 1, a chair designed by Italian designer Enzo Mari as part of his Autoprogettazione (self-design) series. Originally published in 1974, Mari’s project challenged the idea that good design must come from factories by releasing a series of simple construction drawings for modern furniture pieces using standard lumber and basic tools. In this class, students will work with dimensional lumber to construct a fashionable piece of design history. Studio time will emphasize precise measuring, repetition, and thoughtful assembly. We will discuss Mari’s philosophy of open design and how structure, proportion, and material honesty can shape an object's personality. An in-class wood fee of $50 will be assessed.
