Summer 4-Week Mini Session
Explore the quiet precision and rhythm of traditional Japanese kumiko woodworking in this beginner-friendly 4-week class. Students will learn how to create intricate latticework patterns by milling, cutting, and fitting every component by hand and with carefully adapted machine processes.

Work with both traditional hand-tool methods and modern woodworking techniques to create a framed kumiko panel while building a reusable kumiko jig for future projects. Along the way, students will gain a deeper understanding of layout systems, angle cutting, wood movement, and the subtle fitting techniques that make kumiko so compelling. Students will be assessed a wood fee amounting to $100 during classes.
