Woodworking IV: Guided Projects

  • $456.00
Winter 2027 8-Week Classes
Bring your project ideas to life with instructor guidance and support. You will build on the skills developed in Woodworking I–III to plan, execute, and complete projects of your choice. Students take responsibility for design decisions, materials, and workflow while receiving demonstrations and individual support as needed.

Prerequisite: Woodworking III or coordinator permission.

What You Will Make

  • A self-directed woodworking project suited to your experience and the eight-week session.
  • Project drawings, a cut list, and a step-by-step work plan to guide your build.

What You Will Learn

  • Selecting materials and planning efficient wood use
  • Developing an idea into a workable design
  • Choosing appropriate joinery and organizing construction steps
  • Improving accuracy, solving problems, and adjusting your plan as you build
  • Working independently while recognizing when to seek guidance

How this class works:

Come to the first class with project ideas, reference images, sketches, or drawings. The instructor and fellow students will offer feedback to help refine your design and organize the steps. By the end of week one, you should have a clear project direction and materials list so you can begin building in week two. Weekly check-ins will help you assess progress and work through challenges.

What’s Included in Your Class Tuition:

  • Students are responsible for purchasing project materials; we will discuss material selection and quantities during the first class.
  • Consumable materials such as wood glue and sandpaper
  • Basic finishing supplies
  • Access to the wood shop during open studio hours
  • Safety gear, including eye and ear protection
