Woodworking II

Early Autumn 8-Week Classes

Build your woodworking skills in this intermediate class at MADE Chicago’s new woodshop in Bucktown. Students will create a series of refined projects that introduce new joinery techniques, furniture construction, and more advanced woodworking skills. This class is ideal for students who have completed Woodworking I or have basic experience using woodworking tools. You’ll leave with finished projects and a stronger understanding of how to work safely and confidently in a shared woodshop. Students will be assessed two wood fees amounting to $100 during classes. 

What You Will Make

  • Simple seat or stool

  • Small wall cabinet

What You Will Learn

  • How to mill and prepare wood accurately

  • Joinery: miters, dovetails and box joint

  • Safe use of the table saw, router table, drill press, and band saw

  • How to shape, sand, and refine small parts

  • Installing hinges and small hardware

  • Project planning, sequencing, and finishing basics
