Woodworking II

Build your woodworking skills and in this intermediate class at MADE’s new woodshop in Bucktown. We will create a series of refined projects that introduce new joinery, furniture construction, and sculptural techniques. This class is perfect for students who have completed Woodworking I or have basic woodworking tool experience. You will leave class with a set of refined projects and a strong understanding of how to work safely and confidently in a woodshop setting.

What You Will Make

• Simple seat or stool

• Small wall cabinet 

• Precision-hinged box

• Sculptural object (using a combination of machine and hand tools)

What You Will Learn

• How to mill and prepare wood accurately

• Intermediate joinery: miters, dovetails and box joint

• Safe use of the table saw, router table, drill press, and band saw

• How to shape, sand, and refine small parts

• Installing hinges and small hardware

• Project planning, sequencing, and finishing basics
