Campers will learn how to use real tools, build confidence through making, and develop problem-solving skills as they complete a series of age-appropriate projects. Kids will learn hand skills first, giving students a strong foundation before introducing select handheld power tools. Safety, patience, and learning by doing are central to every activity. Skills Campers Will Learn Hand sawing techniques for cutting wood accurately and safely Use of basic hand tools, including measuring and marking tools, clamps, chisels, and screwdrivers Safe use of handheld power tools, including drills and sanders Introduction to standard woodshop machinery. Depending on the project, campers may work with equipment such as the SawStop table saw, band saw, miter saw, and drill press under direct instructor supervision and with specialized safety procedures. Measuring, layout, and basic woodworking math Understanding wood grain, material properties, and how wood behaves in different applications Sanding, surface preparation, and simple finishing techniques Project planning, problem-solving, and creative design development through daily sketchbook work Woodshop safety, tool care, and responsible tool use Assembly techniques, fastening methods, and basic woodworking joinery Projects & Activities Campers will complete a series of small woodworking projects designed to reinforce skills while encouraging creativity. Projects may include a small stool, simple boxes, small shelves, or personalized wooden objects. Each camper will leave with finished pieces they can be proud of.
